Orchidée APACHE (OCTAT-P® Replacement Component) Now Available for Customer Sampling

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 31, 2005 - Swiss telecommunications IC component manufacturer Orchidée Semiconductor Sàrl ("Orchidée") is currently developing a pin-for-pin replacement for the Infineon Technologies OCTAT-P® (PEB2096) in response to Infineon's Discontinuation Notice for the device. The Orchidée device, called "Apache" will be based on Orchidée's mature, proven, Upn line interface technology and be capable of direct placement into OCTAT-P sockets.

As explained by Mr. Don McCarthy, President of Orchidée, "Orchidée's OCTAT-P currently exists as an IP core and has
been licensed to telecommunications OEM's now for over 7 years. Our INT2095 (PEB2095 replacement) has been in production now for over 3 years and is also capable of LT mode operation. We are therefore confident that we will
introduce Apache to the market in time for customer sampling prior to the final order date published by the current
OCTAT-P manufacturer."

Since the device will be manufactured in more recent, smaller-geometry technologies than the current standard part,
pricing is expected to be more competitive. Apache will be manufactured in 0.5-micron technology and be offered in both
JEDEC-standard, Pb-free MQFP and PLCC packages.
